Haribhau Upadhyay
-->Haribhau Upadhyay, popularly known as 'Da Saheb', was born on March 24, 1892 in the village of Bhaunrasa in present-day Ujjain district of Madhya Pradesh.
-->After getting village level elementary education in Bhaunrasa, in the year 1911 he went to Varanasi for higher education and edited a monthly paper named 'Audumbar' there.
-->Upadhyay was one of the prominent leaders of the freedom struggle in Rajasthan.
-->Haribhau established 'Sasta Sahitya Mandal' in Ajmer. In the year 1927, Haribhau published the Hindi monthly magazine 'Tyagbhoomi' from Ajmer and established 'Gandhi Ashram' in Hatundi in the same year with the inspiration of Jamnalal Bajaj.
-->He played an important role in the longest non-violent peasant movement of modern Indian history i.e Bijolia peasant movement.
-->He tried to convince the Maharana of Mewar and the British Resident properly in the court regarding the demands of the farmer but did not get success.
-->Upadhyay edited the magazine 'Saraswati' with Mahavir Prasad Dwivedi from the year 1916 to the beginning of the year 1919.
-->After that he reached Kanpur and helped Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi in editing the daily paper 'Pratap' and the monthly paper 'Prabha'.
-->With the inspiration of Gandhiji and with the help of Jamnalal Bajaj, he started the publication of a paper named 'Hindi Navjeevan' from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad and also edited paper named 'Malav Mayur' from Banaras.
-->In the year 1929, Upadhyay was made the President of the Ajmer-Merwara-Rajputana-Central India Congress Committee.
-->In the year 1930, he was sent to jail for the first time in connection with the Salt Satyagraha, where he translated the Gita into Hindi.
-->He also handled the editing work of 'Tarun Rajasthan' of Rajasthan Seva Sangh.
-->After independence, Haribhau became the first and last Chief Minister of Ajmer-Merwara state from 1951 to 1956.
-->After this, Upadhyaya remained the Minister of Education, Finance, Planning, Social Welfare and Khadi and Village Industries in the Sukhadia cabinet till 1965.
-->He was also a great litterateur and journalist. He wrote several essays motivating people to wholeheartedly join the freedom struggle and edited several newspapers and magazines.
-->Haribhau Upadhyay played an important role in the Indian freedom struggle.
-->Through his actions and his words, he inspired thousands of people in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to commit themselves to the liberation of the country.
