D365 Developers and Functional Role

In Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations (D365), there are several different roles that are involved in the implementation, customization, and maintenance of the application. Some of the main roles include:

  1. Functional Consultant: These individuals have a deep understanding of the functional aspects of the application, such as business processes, workflows, and data models. They work closely with the business users to understand their requirements and to configure the application to meet their needs.

  2. Technical Consultant: These individuals have a deep understanding of the technical aspects of the application, such as the underlying architecture, development tools, and code. They work closely with the functional consultant to implement and customize the application according to the business requirements.

  3. Developer: These individuals are responsible for writing code in X++, and for customizing and extending the functionality of D365. They typically have a strong background in programming and software development, and are skilled in using the MorphX development environment, the X++ programming language, and the D365 framework.

  4. Tester: These individuals are responsible for testing the application and ensuring that it meets the business requirements. They work closely with the functional and technical consultants to create and execute test cases, and to identify and report any issues that are found.

  5. Project Manager: These individuals are responsible for leading the project team and ensuring that the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality. They work closely with all the other roles to plan, organize, and monitor the project.

  6. Business Analyst: These individuals are responsible for gathering and analyzing business requirements and processes. They work closely with the project manager and the functional consultant to understand the business needs and translate them into functional requirements for the system.

  7. Data migration specialist: These individuals are responsible for handling data migration from legacy system to D365. They work closely with the technical and functional consultants to ensure that the data is migrated correctly and that it meets the business requirements.

  8. System Administrator: These individuals are responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of the D365 environment. They work closely with the technical and functional consultants to ensure that the system is up to date, secure, and performing well.

These are some of the main roles that are typically involved in a D365 implementation, but there may be other roles depending on the specific requirements of the project.
