Central Excise Day
● Every year 24 February is celebrated as Central Excise Day all over India.
● This day is celebrated every year on February 24, 1944 to commemorate the implementation of the Central Excise and Salt Act.
● It aims to encourage the employees of the Excise Department for better enforcement of Central Excise across India so as to prevent corruption in goods manufacturing business as well as implement best practices related to excise services.
● The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in India is responsible for Customs Duty, Goods and Services Tax (GST), Central Excise and Service Tax etc.
● Central Excise is an indirect tax levied on goods manufactured in India.
● The 'Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs' is a Statutory Body constituted under the Department of Revenue of the Union Ministry of Finance through the 'Central Board of Revenue Act, 1963'.
